Why I Became a Therapist

My path to becoming a therapist wasn't a straight line. Like many people who are drawn to this work, I came to it through my own experiences with conflict, disconnection, and the hard work of rebuilding relationships. I know firsthand how exhausting it is to feel stuck in the same argument, to love someone deeply and still feel miles apart.

What I discovered along the way is that most conflict isn't really about what it appears to be on the surface. Beneath every argument is an unmet need, a fear, or a longing to feel seen and valued. That insight changed everything for me, and it became the foundation of the work I do with clients today.

I became a therapist because I believe every couple and family deserves the tools to understand each other more deeply, communicate with less pain, and build the kind of connection they actually want. That belief drives every session I hold.

The Flip The Script Method

How I Developed It and Why It Works

After years of working with couples in high-conflict relationships, I noticed a pattern: the arguments changed, but the underlying dynamic stayed the same. Couples would come in fighting about money, parenting, or household responsibilities, but what they were really communicating was something much deeper: I don't feel prioritized. I don't feel safe. I don't feel like we're on the same team.

The Flip The Script Method grew out of that observation. It is a practical, evidence-informed approach that helps couples slow down in the middle of conflict, identify what is really being communicated beneath the surface, and respond with intention rather than reaction. Instead of getting stuck in blame, defensiveness, or shutdown, couples learn to de-escalate, reconnect, and build healthier patterns over time.

The method draws on established therapeutic frameworks including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method principles, and attachment theory, adapted into a clear, accessible process that clients can actually use in their daily lives, not just in the therapy room.

My Approach and Philosophy

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a collaboration. My role is not to take sides, assign blame, or tell you what your relationship should look like. My role is to help you both slow down enough to hear each other, and to give you the tools to keep doing that long after our sessions end.

I bring warmth, directness, and a healthy dose of humor to my work. Sessions are a safe space to be honest, to be imperfect, and to do the real work of understanding yourself and your partner more deeply.

I am particularly passionate about helping couples who feel like they have tried everything and nothing has worked. In my experience, those are often the couples who are closest to a real breakthrough, they just need a different lens.
